Silent Meditation Retreat
A 3-Night Retreat into Stillness, Awareness and Presence
Springbrook QLD
15-18 July 2027
Three nights. Silence. A chance to simply be.
An opportunity to slow down, turn inward, and see what's underneath the noise of everyday life. Meditation, rest, and the quiet company of others doing the same.
Dharma talks are offered to support the practice and will draw on Buddhist and yogic teachings to help make sense of what arises in silence and meditation. Take what's useful, and hold the rest lightly.
What does silence offer us?
When we stop speaking, we may begin to hear more clearly.
When we stop rushing, we may begin to notice where we are.
When we stop constantly reaching for the next thing, we may begin to experience what is already here.
Silence can reveal our habitual patterns of thought, action and avoidance.
It can also offer something deeply restorative.
A chance to stop responding.
A chance to stop performing.
A chance to stop managing everyone else's experience.
A chance to simply be with yourself.
This retreat may be particularly meaningful for those who:
~ Feel mentally or emotionally overloaded
~ Are constantly caring for others
~ Find it difficult to slow down
~ Feel disconnected from their body or inner experience
~ Are navigating a period of transition or change
~ Want to deepen their meditation practice
~ Are curious about silence and contemplative practice
~ Simply feel the need to step away from the noise of everyday life
You do not need to have an established meditation practice or be experienced in yoga.
The Rhythm of the Retreat
Each day will offer a gentle rhythm of practice, rest and reflection.
Periods of meditation and contemplative practice are balanced with rest, nature and nourishing meals.
There is space to walk, read, yoga, journal, do art or simply sit beneath the trees or by the fire.
The schedule is structured enough to support you, but spacious enough to allow you to breathe.
Noble Silence
Silence will be practiced for much of the retreat.
This includes refraining from unnecessary conversation, phones and other forms of external stimulation.
The intention is not to create a rigid or restrictive environment.
Rather, silence gives the mind and nervous system fewer things to respond to.
It creates space.
You will be guided into the experience gradually, with clear expectations and steady and unwavering support throughout the retreat.
Come as you are
You do not need to arrive calm.
You do not need to arrive clear.
You do not need to arrive knowing what you need.
You can arrive tired.
Restless.
Curious.
Overwhelmed.
Unsure.
The invitation is simply to come.
To slow down.
To listen.
And to see what becomes possible when you pause and take a moment to observe.
At the 2027 Silent Retreat, we will offer a communal dinner before silence and a communal breakfast afterwards. This gives the opportunity for connection for those who want it.

Retreat Testimonials
"I've attended two of Darci and Evie's silent yoga and meditation retreats, and both experiences have been wonderful. As a neurodivergent person, it's incredibly important for me to trust the facilitators and know that I'm in a safe, supportive environment. Darci and Evie create exactly that. Their warmth, care, and genuine presence make the retreats feel welcoming, comforting, and deeply restorative.
Having practised yoga for more than 25 years, I value teachers with extensive experience and knowledge. Both Darci and Evie bring this expertise to their teaching, and it shows. As a long-term meditator, I'm also very impressed by the quality and depth of the meditations that Evie leads.
The venue at the Theosophical Society is beautiful and peaceful. The food is always amazing, there's a warm fire creating a cosy atmosphere in the dining area and outside around the fire pit, and the spacious, heated shala comfortably accommodates everyone. I highly recommend Darci and Evie's yoga and meditation retreats. I enjoy them so much, and trust them so completely. Thank you, Darci and Evie, for creating such a safe, nurturing, and enriching experience." ~ Jaya Healy
"Darci and Evie hold such a special space, even in silence I felt so connected and supported. Every part of the retreat is considered, with lots of time to just be. Having been for the second time now I have had different experiences on a personal level but the same consistent care, not too mention the amazing food that really adds the nourishment. I will be back again next year that's for sure." ~Amy Farrow
Meet your teachers
Darci, founder of Australia Yoga Teacher Training, and Evie, founder of Kannon Yoga, began working together in 2020 when Evie joined AYTT as a facilitator.
What brought them together was a shared approach: using yoga not just as a physical practice, but as a way to understand patterns, behaviour, and the way we relate to ourselves and others.
Their work is informed by both traditional yogic teachings, including the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and contemporary psychotherapeutic approaches.
Darci has spent many years training yoga teachers and developing education that bridges classical yoga philosophy with modern understandings of the nervous system, relationship, and human behaviour. She is currently completing a Masters in Gestalt Therapy, a relational, present-focused approach to psychotherapy that explores how patterns develop through experience and continue to influence perception, behaviour, and relationships.
Evie is a trained psychotherapist, Clinical Support Specialist and Supervisor whose work draws on Integrative Psychotherapy, Eastern philosophy, and many years of teaching yoga. She brings extensive experience supporting people in both therapeutic and educational settings, with a focus on safety, clarity, and practical application.
Together, they offer a balanced approach that is structured, experiential, and trauma-informed. Their retreats are designed to help participants become aware of patterns, understand how they develop and are maintained, and explore how they can begin to shift using practices drawn from yoga, mindfulness, and psychotherapy-informed frameworks.
Rather than simply teaching concepts, they create the conditions for people to observe, understand, and work with their own experience in ways that are practical, grounded, and sustainable.
