In Studio Yoga Teacher Training
Course Curriculum

We dive into the philosophy of yoga and share with you how to consistently invite these practices into your day to day life.
Explore a step-by-step method for cultivating discernment, clear vision and a wider view, as taught in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra’s.
During the training we break down these life changing practices in a way that is attainable and relatable. They will nourish you, give you clarity, and become a part of your daily practice.

Pranayama
In this module we will work together to deepen our understanding of, and our relationship to, meditation. We fuse theory, practice, and the expressive arts so that you will confidently integrate meditation into your own personal lives and teaching. Through weaving Eastern philosophy and Western psychology we will create a solid foundation. You will gain the skills and practice to create and teach powerful guided meditations as well as experience with other prominent forms of meditation, such as Zazen meditation and crystal meditations, amongst others.

Pranayama
By practicing Pranayama we build awareness around this flow of energy, and we begin to have some control over our energy levels, emotions and thoughts. We also develop a deeper connection with everyone and everything.
Having a regular Pranayama practice will not only help you as a teacher to bring this incredibly powerful practice into your teaching, it will also help you open up as a person. The more open we are, the more we are able to relate to others.
Pranayama leads us to the deeper states of yoga, and in this module you will inevitably feel these effects significantly. We also explore Bandhas, Mudras and the anatomy of breathing.

Pranayama
Learning about the Koshas will provide a framework for conceptualising the inner and outer layers of the physical body, through to the soul. To understand these various aspects that make up our existence, and how these layers of ourselves interact with our life journey, and how our experiences, choices and actions impact each of these layers of our being is extremely insightful.

Pranayama
There has been plenty of research into the mind-body connection. Journey beyond the physical realm to discover how your thoughts, patterns and emotions could potentially be impacting imbalance in your body. It's more obvious that the state of our physical body can impact our mental and emotional state, and perhaps less obvious that our mind can influence or even change the body's physiology. Explore how your own unique thought patterns and behaviours could be directly impacting your biological functioning.

Explore ways to enhance your creativity and bring variety into a class by learning different ways to sequence poses and how to manage a classroom environment effectively.
You will discover the art of giving a range of options and layering postures in such a way that your teaching is accessible to all levels of practice from beginners to experienced practitioners.

Adjusting
Postures will be broken down into their structural components in a way that can be easily understood. You will learn how to verbally cue and physically adjust different body types in classes by understanding individuals’ bodies and how to effectively support any injuries which you may come across in your teaching.
You will also gain an understanding of the central nervous system, the inner workings of the body, and how our current lives can impact this. You will be given the tools to support and heal yourself so that you can effectively help others to do the same.

and Observation
You will learn specific methods, which you will put into practice throughout the training, to help refine your home practice and develop your teaching skills. You will have the opportunity to teach yoga to your peers and the public, as well as observe classes taught by your lead trainers, with the option of taking notes.

Ayurveda, the sister science to yoga, incorporates all aspects of life; maintaining physical health plus focusing on the metaphysical and emotional aspects of being human.
Ayurveda empowers us with wisdom by gently guiding us away from the disease mindset, instead helping to develop a sense of self-awareness and an understanding of the mind-body connection so we can help to heal ourselves and others.
Using these principles you will learn how to live the best life possible, grow through adversity and embrace the challenges that come with change.

Yin yoga is complementary to your more dynamic yang practice and targets your deeper connective tissues. With yin poses being held for longer, the practice really enables you, the practitioner, to find a little more stillness and sink a little deeper inside yourself. This module will give you a taster of this wonderful branch of yoga.

In this introduction to Kids Yoga module, you will touch upon how children learn and the different stages of development. You will learn how to teach to different age groups alongside learning some Asana, Pranayama and Meditation specifically for children.
